SUMMARY:26th IIR International Congress of Refrigeration 21st - 22nd August with special INWIC Event at the ICR 2023: Empowering Women in Cooling and Refrigeration on 21st August
DESCRIPTION:26th IIR International Congress of Refrigeration\nRefrigeration is both ubiquitous in our world and indispensable to our society. The Covid 19 pandemic that we have been experiencing since the beginning of 2020 has clearly shown this. But this very useful refrigeration is also a major energy consumer and contributes significantly to the greenhouse effect. In the 21st century\, refrigeration will either be sustainable or it won’t be! This is why the organizing committee has decided to organize this congress under the theme “Towards efficient\, controlled and smart Refrigeration” \nThe International Congress of Refrigeration 2023 is the world’s largest gathering of scientists\, experts\, technicians and professionals in the field of refrigeration and air conditioning. It provides a unique forum to present and disseminate the results of research\, development and innovation. \n  \nINWIC Event: Empowering Women in Cooling and Refrigeration\nRegister here. \n\n\nCooling and refrigeration are crucial for our health\, nutrition\, comfort\, and well-being. This sector contributes significantly to safeguard the environment\, advance welfare of humanity and support the growth of employment and economics worldwide. \nWomen engagement in this sector is either under-represented or unrecognized around the globe despite of the high potential that can be unleashed by encouraging women to pursue education and job opportunities in cooling. This workshop will explore the role of women in promoting and developing sustainable cooling in different world regions. It will showcase women’s experience working in the sector and demonstrate what can be achieved when women are empowered to make a difference. \nThis event is an INWIC (International Network for Women in Cooling) event organised with the IIR Working Group on CaRe (Careers in Refrigeration). \nProgramme: \nModerator: Andrea Voight\, Head of Global Public Affairs / Industry Affairs & Communication\, Danfoss \n4 panellists: \n\nColleen Keyworth\, INWIC president & Women in HVACR\, USA\nSawsan Bawaresh\, Cool-UP country manager\, Jordan\nLaura Fedele\, Winner of the IIR Women award\, Italy\nMary Najjuma\, LSBU PhD Researcher- Rural Efficient and Optimal Cooling Hubs\n\nThis session format is a roundtable discussion\, with the audience being able to ask some questions of the panellists. \nTo more about the ICR 2023 different workshops\, please visit: https://www.icr2023.org/workshops \nThis event is FREE of charge to the conference registered participants and will be in Room 352A. \nIf you have not registered to attend the ICR 2023 and you are interested to attend just this specific meeting\, it is possible to buy a One Day Pass for 380 Euros!

SUMMARY:Indoor Air Quality Conference 2023
DESCRIPTION:The Indoor Air Quality Conference 2023 will be held in Brisbane from July 17–18. \nGood quality indoor air is critical for good health. Australians spend 90 per cent of their time indoors – in the home\, office\, or other types of buildings – where airborne particles\, gases\, chemicals\, mould\, and other pollutants can cause headaches\, eye irritation\, allergies\, and fatigue. Serious pollutants can cause certain types of cancers and other long-term health complications. \nSupplying clean air through a building’s heating\, ventilation\, and air conditioning (HVAC) systems can prevent many environmental health hazards such as asthma. According to Asthma Australia\, asthma affects one in nine Australians (around 2.7 million people). \nAbout the conference \nThe purpose of this conference is to provide AIRAH members and the broader industry with a platform for discussing issues related to indoor air quality (IAQ). This includes policy advice\, regulation development\, and the development of (and access to) the latest industry-leading advice. This conference will promote a whole-of-supply-chain integrated view on issues related to indoor air quality\, along with best-practice delivery in the Australian and international community. \nKey topics \n\nIndoor air quality\, health\, and wellbeing\nMega-trends and indoor air quality\n\nUrbanisation and the consequences for indoor environmental quality (IEQ)Climate change and indoor climate\n\nBushfires\, floods\, and other severe weather events\n\n\n\n\n\n\nSustainable and healthy buildings\n\nEnergy efficiency\nIntelligent design and solutions\n\n\n\n\nRegulation\, standards\, policy\, guidelines\, education\n\nWorld’s best practice\nAQ and impacts on insurance\n\n\n\n\nBuilding simulation and modelling\n\nAir distribution\nInteraction of structures and IEQ\n\n\n\n\nChemistry\, sources\, transformations\n\nIndoor air chemistry\nMaterial emissions\n\n\n\n\nMonitoring of indoor air quality\n\nVOCs\, and other gaseous contaminants\nParticles\, fibres\nAnalytics and sensors\n\n\n\n\nVentilation and air cleaning\n\nNovel solutions (air distribution)\nFiltration\nPortable air cleaners\n\n\n\n\nDrivers of indoor microbiological exposure\n\nMoisture\, dampness\, new solutions\n\n\n\n\nCleaning\, hygiene\, and prevention of disease transmission\n\nSurface contamination\, air quality\nSelf-cleaning and antimicrobial surfaces\nDisinfection

SUMMARY:10th IIR Conference on Ammonia and CO2 Refrigeration Technologies
DESCRIPTION:The climate change is a global issue with catastrophic consequences which remind us almost every day. There are alarming projections of GHG emissions including HFCs. In Europe the Regulation No 517/2014 on F-gases has been introduced with many restrictions and gradually phase-down. A new revision is underway in 2023. The 28 Meeting of the Parties (in 2016) adopted an amendment to the Montreal Protocol for gradually phase-down of HFCs (from 2019 to 2047) to achieve 85% reduction. Recently\, new HFC refrigerants (named HFOs) with low GWPs are appeared on the market. However\, in July 2021\, five European member states published their intention to submit a joint proposal for restriction of PFAS\, including HFC and HFO refrigerants. \nThe choice of refrigerant (and technology) has become a very complicated issue. In the RAC industry\, confusion and uncertainties related to working fluids in many applications are continuing. In addition\, there are many groups with diverging interests: chemical companies\, manufacturers of equipment\, distributors\, users\, environmental organizations\, politicians and the public. \nAfter several conversions CFCs -> HCFCs -> HFCs -> HFOs(?)\, the global trend towards using natural refrigerants is intensifying. There are very positive signals in Europe and some parts in the world where expanding use of ammonia\, carbon dioxide and hydrocarbons in various applications is occurring. We will eliminate all uncertainties in the future regarding both Protocols and environmental regulations applying to natural refrigerants. \nOf all refrigerants applied today\, ammonia and CO2 are the oldest that have been used since the 19th century. The topics of the conference are: design of modern ammonia and new CO2 systems and technological innovations\, improving energy efficiency\, various applications\, technical guidelines and safety regulations. It is very clear: by using more ammonia and CO2 refrigerants\, we are employing environmentally friendly technologies.

SUMMARY:3rd IIR Conference on HFO Refrigerants and Low GWP Blends
DESCRIPTION:With HFC phase-down now being implemented across Europe\, and likely to be adopted in many other regions\, the IIR Conference on HFO Refrigerants and Low GWP Blends offers an opportunity for those developing new working fluids to meet with the equipment design engineers who provide products\, and the system installers who use them\, as well as with representatives of the end-user community who have to live with the consequences of these scientific and technical decisions. \nThe conference covered essential information on the characteristics of HFO Refrigerants and Low GWP Blends\, system and component design\, lubricants\, flammability\, safety\, environmental impact\, efficiency\, legislation\, codes of practice and standards.
